About Us

Discover Brown Rice

Everyone deserves a life they enjoy and a place in society. Understanding different minds opens more possibilities for all of us.

Our Mission

Develop strengths through connected support

We connect community, education and caring relationships so neurodivergent people can develop their strengths, enjoy life and contribute to society in their own way.

Who We Are

A Hong Kong foundation connecting growth and inclusion

Brown Rice Livelihood Foundation Limited is a Hong Kong charitable foundation recognised as tax-exempt under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (IRD Ref. No. 91/13427).

Through Petal, Neuroseed and Soaring Academics, we connect a girls’ community, school-based teacher development and volunteer academic tutoring.

WHAT GUIDES US

Understanding is where change begins.

Informed by neuroscience and clinical psychology. Grounded in people’s lived experience.

01

A person first. A fuller understanding.

Respect each person’s experiences, choices and support needs. ADHD and autism involve developmental differences; strengths and difficulties can coexist.

02

A secure connection makes space to explore.

Circle of Security highlights children’s need for a secure base to explore and comfort when unsettled. This guides our work with families and schools.

03

Adapt the approach. Make room for growth.

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s capacity to change with learning and experience. We value appropriate challenge, practice, feedback and rest, noticing progress from each person’s starting point.

Our reading and references

These sources inform our approach, not the effectiveness of individual programmes. Circle of Security concerns attachment relationships; it does not explain or treat ADHD or autism.
